The websites we suggest here are all good sources of flat-shares. But before you start looking, make sure you follow our golden rules:
- Never pay an accommodation agency to find you somewhere to live the websites listed here all offer a free service.
- Check how large a deposit you will need to pay it's usually equivalent to one month's rent and you'll get it back at the end of your stay.
- Never pay a deposit BEFORE you see a room. You may find that the room doesn't actually exist particularly if it is offered at a very low rent. Never send money using Western Union this is always a warning sign.
- Check how much rent you will need to pay in advance most places will ask you to pay one month in advance.
- Check whether or not the bills are included in the rent these could easily add on an extra £50 a month.
- Find out all the rules of the house such as smoking, parties and entertaining friends BEFORE you move in!
